AUDITIONS!

Step 1 Students fill out online registration forms at:

All students will perform “My Country Tis of Thee”  You may select the high or low version that fits your voice best.

In addition you may also choose a song that best shows off your vocal ability. This is not required but for those wanting to show more of their singing voice.

•         You need to prepare 32-48 measures of the song, (about 30 seconds of singing).  (Pick the best or most exciting part of the song.)  Sing out!  Sing Loud!  Go for it!
•         Musical theater, folk songs, and art songs are the preferred repertoire.
•         Some pop songs can be used for show choir auditions.
•         Please don’t try to just mimic the pop artist.
•         Your solo should be prepared and memorized.
•         All solos will be unaccompanied unless you provide a track or can accompany yourself with piano or phone.

1.  You will be asked to sing a vocal exercise both up and down for us to determine your vocal range.

2. Students who cannot make these times may audition by setting up an appointment with Mr. Hummel or Mr. Lefler.  Students May also audition at the conclusion of one of the dance workshops.

Cost:  

A complete outline of expected costs for the year is available in our handbook found on our website.  Competitive choirs are all able to use the fundraising provided toward the cost of their fees, accessories, and trips.   Please be realistic about your situation, but know that there are ways to help pay for the cost of this activity.  No student has ever been disqualified from choir for financial reasons.

Time Commitment: 

Concert Choir does not meet outside of the school day except for rehearsals prior to concerts.  This class  is easily coordinated with other activities including competitive dance and travel sports leagues.

Chamber Choir will meet minimally outside of the school day if needed.  This course is easily coordinated with other activities including competitive dance, sports, band, guard, and other travel sports leagues.

Femmes Fatales & Belles et Beaux current rehearsal calendar can be viewed on our website.   Fall, Winter and Spring athletes are welcome and encouraged to participate.   These choirs  have football players, Dance team members, cross country runners, tennis players,winter guard,wrestlers, and even swimmers.   We want students to be able to participate in a variety of activities and are willing to work around other conflicts within reason.   

Results: Results are posted on the Plainfield Choir website at the conclusion of the audition process.
